Introduction to IRAM certification in Argentina
In order to ensure the safe use of electrical appliances by the public, Argentina requires that electrical products sold on the market must meet the corresponding regulatory requirements. Argentina issued a resolution on February 16, 1998, and began to establish a compulsory certification system to ensure that electrical products sold on the Argentine market meet the minimum safety requirements. The implementation of the system is divided into three phases:
The first stage
Certificate of Conformity This stage of certification is similar to European CE certification. All electrical products entering the Argentine market need a certificate of compliance, which is what we usually call a CE certificate.
second stage
Type Approval products need to obtain a type approval certificate issued by the IRAM after testing in an accredited laboratory. The type approval only needs to be tested for safety, no factory inspection is required, but no safety certification mark can be used on the product.
The third stage
Product Certification At this stage, all products sold on the Argentina market must obtain the national certification mark. Certified products can use the "S" mark. Argentina's certification is transitioning to the third stage, the product certification stage, and type approval certificates are still acceptable in Argentina. However, from 2001 to 2002, the product will gradually complete the transition to the certification phase.
Safety requirements
Agreement 197/2004 provides for S-Mark enforcement on electrical and electronic products, toys, personal protective equipment, elevators, lighters, children's bicycles, and construction steel equipment with an input voltage in the range of 50-1000 VAC AC or 50-1500 VDC DC. Certified. The agreement requires that the product must comply with IRAM or IEC standards. The IRAM standard is mainly based on international standards (IEC and ISO). Manufacturers can attach the Argentina S mark to products that meet the standards. Product evaluation is performed according to IEC standards plus Argentine differences or Argentine standards. In fact, the formulation of the IRAM standard has adopted most of the provisions of the IEC standard.
Resolution 92/98 has been implemented in several stages. Since December 1, 2003, mandatory safety requirements have been gradually set for different types of products.
Certification process
1. The manufacturer's relevant laboratory (hereinafter referred to as the laboratory) makes an oral or written preliminary application.
2. The applicant fills in the application form, and sends the application form, product specifications and technical documents to the experiment and asks the applicant company to provide a prototype.
3． The laboratory determines the inspection standards and inspection items and quotes them.
4． The applicant confirms the quotation and sends the sample and related technical documents to the laboratory.
5. The applicant provides technical documents.
6. The laboratory issues a fee notice to the applicant, and the applicant requires payment of the certification fee according to the fee notice.
7. The laboratory conducts product testing and reviews technical documents.
8. Review of technical documents includes:
1) Is the document complete?
2) Whether the document is written in the official language (English, German or French).
9. If the technical documentation is incomplete or the required language is not used, the laboratory will notify the applicant to improve.
10. If the test is unsuccessful, the laboratory will apply to the applicant in time to allow the applicant to improve the product. In this way, the designated test is qualified. The applicant should make changes to the timely information in the original application in order to reflect the actual situation after the change.
11. The laboratory provides the applicant with a test report or technical document and IRAM certification
